These nature-inspired wands are not only a fun craft activity but also make fantastic props for dressing up play afterwards. Children love playing with something they've created themselves. It gives them a wonderful sense of ownership and achievement.
The wands are easy to make using twigs, decorated with wool, beads and nature resources such as feathers, flowers and leaves. I painted my twigs before decorating them with the wool and beads but you don't have to. If you prefer, just leave them unpainted.
Why not go on a walk and collect some nature bits and bobs to use? This activity is a nature, arts and crafts and creative play all in one!

You will need:
- twigs
- wool or string
- beads
- feathers, leaves, flowers or grasses
- scissors
- paint & paintbrush (optional)
How to make:

- Paint your twig and leave to dry. I painted mine different colours.
- Once dry, wrap wool around it and tie the loose ends to secure.

- To add beads, simply thread them through a length of wool and then wrap the wool around the twig. Once again, tie the loose ends of the wool together to secure.
- Add some feathers to the top of your wand by wrapping wool around the twig and feathers to hold in place. Tie the wool ends together to secure. Instead of feathers, you could add flowers, grasses or leaves.
