Animal pawprint biscuits ingredients set out in bowls and plates on a work surface.

Ingredients: (makes about 15 biscuits)

  • 125g margarine or unsalted butter, softened
  • 75g caster sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 150g plain flour
  • chocolate buttons and chocolate drops for decorating

Method:

  • Put the margarine/butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and cream them together with a whisk until pale and fluffy.
2 images showing vanilla extract and flour added to biscuit ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  • Add the vanilla extract and flour to the mixing bowl.
2 images showing hands bringing biscuit ingredients together to form a dough together and the dough wrapped in clingfilm.
  • Mix the ingredients together with a wooden spoon or your hands to form a dough.
  • Wrap the dough in clingfilm and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 3/170⁰C and grease and line a baking tray.
2 images showing hands rolling biscuit dough into balls on a baking tray and baked biscuits.
  • Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls with your hands and place on the baking tray.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes till slightly golden brown around the edges. The biscuits will firm up as they cool.
2 images showing animal pawprint biscuits decorated with chocolate buttons and drops.
  • Leave the biscuits on the tray whilst you decorate them. You will need to add the chocolate buttons and drops whilst the biscuits are still warm. Gently push the buttons and drops into the biscuits so they stick and then leave to cool and set completely. The chocolate will become very soft but don't worry, it will harden as the biscuits cool down.
  • I used 1 chocolate button and 3 chocolate drops for the animal toes for each biscuit as I didn't want them to be too sweet. You could, however, add 4 or 5 chocolate drops if you prefer. Fox and wolves have 4 toes and bears have 5 toes!

Hope you enjoy these animal pawprint biscuits!
