With Halloween just around the corner, I’m excited to share my latest collection with you. Each costume is designed with comfort, creativity, and plenty of spooky-fun spirit in mind – perfect for trick-or-treating and everyday dressing-up adventures!
New Range of Costume Accessories
Think cats, bats, pumpkins, sparkle and acorns!
Over these past few months I’ve been busy at Another World Costumes HQ designing a beautiful range of Halloween-themed and woodland-inspired costumes to wear over the coming season.
I must admit at times it felt rather strange designing pumpkins, bats, acorns and autumn leaves in the London summer heatwave! I needed to allow enough time to make and send off samples to the testing house to approve. Before heading off on our family summer holiday, I sent everything off. On my return, I was delighted to find out that the new costumes had passed the safety testing. Then began the lovely job of uploading all the new costumes on to my website. I designed the new costumes in response to a questionnaire I sent out at the end of last year which I'll now chat about.
Costume Accessories
I created a questionnaire which I sent out to email subscribers and was very grateful for all the honest, insightful and helpful responses. One recurring request was for more costume accessories which could be used both independently, as well as complimenting the existing costumes. With this in mind, I came up with the idea of the Halloween-themed and woodland-inspired costume collars.
Halloween Magic and Enchanted Woodland Designs
With these new costumes, I wanted to create a sense of seasonal fun. I have designed collars with what I call ‘traditional’ Halloween motifs, for example, pumpkins, cats, bats, moons and stars. I’ve used classic Halloween colours including orange, black, white, yellow and purple. I’m not a fan of scary macabre Halloween costumes and decorations and even less so when it comes to children, so everything is bright, bold, whimsical and playful. It's all about playful Halloween magic.
Alongside my traditional Halloween motif collars, I've created some woodland-inspired designs which work beautifully for this time of year too. The motifs include acorns, oak leaves, berries, toadstools and foxes. There are 3 gorgeous autumnal colourways to choose from, woodland green, honey and brown. They offer an alternative to the traditional Halloween and are perfect for extending the season and adding something to wear to woodland-themed birthday parties or on a woodland walk.
Designed for Children
All the collars are designed with a childlike simplicity and easy to recognise motifs, such as the cat, bat, moon, stars, acorns and fox. In my blog about my costume design inspirations, I talk about my love of naïve art and how I like to incorporate its direct and playful elements in my own costumes, particularly in my appliqued shapes.
Beautifully handcrafted from soft fabrics, the collars are both interlined and lined to give them shape, make them comfy and last for many Halloweens and autumns to come! The collar motifs are carefully appliqued with a wonderful attention to detail and the collar edges are trimmed with contrast ric rac braid.
Designed with children in mind, each collar fastens at the back with Velcro, making them simple to pop on and off. Easy to wear, they sit comfortably around the neck, allowing plenty of room to move. They’re perfect for layering over everyday clothes, or adding to a costume for parties, trick-or-treating, school plays or sparking exciting adventures indoors and out! In an instant, little ones can transform into wizards, sorcerers, fairies, or spellbinding characters and woodland creatures from their own imagination!
All my costumes are washable at 30⁰C and are fully safety tested.
