These nature pom poms are made from long grass and are great fun to make.
They look lovely hanging up outside and after a week or so you'll see them gradually dry out and become little pom poms of hay!
You will need:
- cardboard - a cereal box is perfect
- pencil
- scissors
- twine or string
- long grass
How to make:

- First of all, make your pom pom template. Draw 2 circles on card to create a 'donut' shape as shown. I drew around a mug for the larger circle and the bottom of a glue stick for the smaller circle. You will need to make 2.
- Cut around the larger circles and then cut out the smaller circles.

- Pick a small handful of long grass. Place the pom pom templates together. Slowly start wrapping the blades of grass around the pom pom template by threading the grass through the hole and around the outside edge of the circle and back through the hole again. Keep threading the grass until you reach the end. Repeat with more blades of grass until the hole in the middle of the template is full and you can't thread any more through.
- Now insert your scissors in between the 2 cardboard templates and cut the wrapped grass as shown.

- Wrap a length of twine around the grass in between the templates.
- Tie it securely to create the nature pom pom.

- Remove the cardboard templates.
- Reshape the grass into a pom pom shape and trim the edges to neaten if necessary.

Thread another length of twine through the first length of twine to make a hanging loop. I made several pom poms and hung them up from branches at different levels.
