Fairytale on a String

Conjure up your own fairytale story with this lovely fairytale on a string download.

The blog includes easy step-by-step instructions for using the printable.

You could also draw your own motifs and create lots of different stories. The possibilities are endless! The download makes a wonderful party activity, decoration for a nursery or child's bedroom or classroom display.

DOWNLOAD FAIRYTALE ON A STRING PRINTABLE

You will need:

printer
1 sheet of A4 lightweight card or paper
scissors
colouring pens, pencils or crayons
decorative bits and bobs, such as glitter, stickers, buttons and sequins (optional)
sticky tape
60cm-length ribbon or string

How to make:

2 images showing the printout in the printer and the printout coloured in and decorated with glitter and sequins.

Print out the Fairytale on a String download. (If you are printing onto paper, you could stick the paper to the back of cereal box or cardboard mailer to strengthen.)
Colour in the trees, stars, castle, king, queen and wand. You could also add glitter, stickers, buttons and sequins for extra sparkle!

Cut the shapes out carefully.
Create a hanging loop at one end of the string.
Lay the shapes face down in the order you want them and then lay the piece of string on top. Attach the back of each shape to the string with a little piece of sticky tape about 1.5cm apart.

I stuck the fairytale shapes in the following order but feel free to create your own - tree, star, queen, castle, wand, king, star and tree.
Hang up your creation and think up lots of fairytale stories!
